About

Hallo, and welcome to the world of The Fabulous Baker Girl!

What can I say? I love to bake. There, I've said it. I cannot remember when I started baking, and I can't remember ever not baking.

Perhaps it is in the genes - my Bavarian Grandmother was a fantastic baker as is my Aunt and Mother, and growing up cake was made at home, never bought.

Home Economics was my favourite subject at school and was the only subject that came naturally and absolutely loved. If I could have spent all of my school years in the cookery room, I would have done. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option.

I never need an excuse to bake, and I love to have a reason to bake. Birthdays, Easter, Christmas - all are celebrated with a sweet confection. Finding a recipe that looks interesting, buying a new cake tin, or wanting to use a seasonal ingredient will all send me into the kitchen.

There is nothing more special than to put your time, effort and love into something that will taste delicious for someone. And I never met anyone who doesn't appreciate this.

However, there are areas in the baking arena that I yet to master. Baking with yeast has always terrified me. I have tried in the past, but the results have only ever been fit for the bin. I am hoping that this blog will give me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone, and make me a better baker.

The reason behind this blog is to share my tried and tested absolute favourite recipes, while discovering new ones. I knew that the files and boxes of torn out recipes from magazines, collected over many years, would be put to use one day!

Only recipes that work will make it onto this blog. Of course, I have my merry band of taste testers (otherwise known as friends and family) who are always willing to demolish whatever I have baked, and can always be relied upon to make the right appreciative noises. My
harshest critic, however, is me, and please believe me, not everything I have made has worked. If the result is not good enough for me, then it is not good enough for you, dear readers.

Everything that you see has been made by me in my own kitchen, and all photographs are my own, using whatever photographic skills I have.

I do hope that you enjoy this blog and will try, if not all, but some of the recipes. Please feel free to contact me as I would really love to hear from you.

Thankyou for following, and Happy Reading!
